The Rhythm of God
I was one of two sons. We had two sons. I only know half the human race! I will crow a little: I have a two-year-old granddaughter. And man am I learning! But aren’t you sick and tired of all the sneaky jazz that is going on about women? Aren’t you tired of the fact that little brother was sent down to the drug store to get a brown box. “What’s in it Mom?” “Don’t ask! Just get it!”
Aren’t you sorry that you didn’t say to a little daughter, “Honey, you are eleven now and you are swelling in all the right places!” I hope I could have said that to a daughter. I would have said to a little eleven-year-old daughter, “I am so jealous of you I could almost spit! Your body is joining the rhythm of God – in a 28-day cycle with the moon and the tides! My little daughter, you are so full of power there is no doubt in my mind that you are made in the image of God!”
How would have history been changed if we had been Biblical? You know, some smart cookie wrote it and put it right up front: “And God said, ‘Let us make man in our own image!’ In the image of God made he them! Male and Female!” God made us! And God said, “This is something else!” Or if you would like the Hebrew precisely: “This is very, very good!” Oh please! I’d dance this if I could!
