Know How to Celebrate

Ernie Campbell has a sermon, “Did Jesus Cry?” He says we are always trying to make Jesus into a wonderful baby: The Cattle are lowing, the poor baby wakes; But little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes!” Apparently those swaddling clothes were Pampers! Says Ernie Campbell, “Wouldn’t it be strange if Jesus didn’t cry when he was the baby? Because the Gospels say he cried when he was a man -- when he was an adult!” I like that! Ernie Campbell also says the most beautiful thing about Jesus at the wedding of Cana of Galilee was that he was having such a good time that he stayed until they ran out of refreshments. Now, Methodists may have a little problem with the “Mogen David” that ensued, but live with it! Live with it! I have a Lord who knew how to celebrate – and that’s the heart of religion.
